This booklet is intended for writers of insurance texts whose mother tongue is not English. Therefore it gives not only synonymous concepts but also terms which are linked with the actions to be described, such as entering into an insurance contract, settling claims or compiling insurance accounts.

Complementing many conventional and insurance dictionaries, which writers will also need to use, the booklet illustrates the use of words and phrases by putting them into sentences. The key terms are first set down in a brief tabular form, which provides a quick reference source for writers who already know the relevant concepts and need only to have the different alternatives recalled.

The final section of the booklet illustrates how the hierarchy of insurance classes and the terminology vary form one country to another.
